Montessori Toilet Learning 90 minute Online Workshop

349,00 د.إ

Although often approached with dread in Western culture, Toilet Learning is a natural, developmental partnership between children and caregivers. The child learns body awareness and autonomy and the caregiver learns patience and submission.

In the Montessori way, toilet learning is seen as a natural developmental stage, much like crawling or walking.  We provide the environment, provide opportunities and the child guides their own learning at their own pace.

In Toilet Learning there is less stress, no pressure on the child or the caregiver and lots of opportunities for learning and connecting together.

No tricks, rewards or distractions, and no punishment, blame or shaming.

Join us for this 2 hour Workshop to be supported in this learning journey for you and your child.

Description

During this informative and light-hearted 2 hour Online Workshop we will cover the following aspects of Toilet Learning:

✓  Toilet learning as one of the most important stage of learning in a young child’s life.

✓ How this natural development sets the scene for how we think about our bodies, the natural processes of our bodies, and affects our intimate lives as adults.

The aim of Toilet Learning being body awareness, not dryness. This is a process, and a developmental stage as natural as learning to crawl, or walk.

Just as crawling or walking does not happen overnight (there are huge amounts of developmental changes that need to take place, opportunities for movement need to be given, there are lots of bumps, scrapes and falling over on the path to walking!). And the same is true for toilet learning.

✓ How accidents are actually ‘misses’ (‘Oh look, I see you missed the toilet’), and how a collaborative approach to cleaning up after misses offers children a deeper understanding and body awareness .

In general Western society (and the dominance of disposable nappies) has given us to believe that elimination is to be feared, and the process of doing so either needs to be perfect and without any ‘misses’, or a torturous battle of wills.

It’s not an all or nothing approach, and is as much about learning for the adult as it is for the child.

✓ The Preparation of the Home to get ready for Toilet Learning.

The child uses lots of skills for Toilet Learning, coordination to dress and undress, gross motor to climb up and down to the toilet and the basin, body awareness, control of bodily functions, autonomy and communication. So we can ensure we facilitate the self directed learning of these skills  by preparing the bathroom space for autonomy.

Looking forward forward to you joining us for this invaluable, stress-free Online Workshop.
